Optimist Club of Arlington, Virginia
Capital-Virginia District 16, Zone 4, Club 16005

The Arlington Optimist Club is an organization of men and women in our community concerned with giving youth a better future. Our members are retirees, young adults establishing their careers, parents, and everyone in between. We count teachers, bank presidents, housewives, judges, former elected officials, small business owners, lawyers, doctors, and much more among our membership!

Founded on December 12, 1946, the Arlington Optimist Club began with 78 charter members, many of whom remain active in the Club today. Currently, there are over 100 members of the Arlington Optimist Club who, among other activities, organize scholastic and other character building programs within the Arlington school system to promote youth. Members also organize and participate in Club fundraising activities whose proceeds provide the Club with resources to award college scholarships as well as sponsor numerous sports and community programs for the youth of Arlington.

The Arlington Optimist Club is a part of Optimist International, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Optimist International is the world’s largest civic youth service club. Last year alone, it raised $45 million and sponsored 62,000 youth projects that affected 8 million young people. There are 4,300 Optimist Clubs throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean.

The Arlington Optimist Club meets for lunch every Wednesday from 12:15 TO 1:30 p.m. at the Army Navy Country Club. The meetings include a program with distinguished and informative speakers. The weekly meetings provide members with an excellent opportunity to network with business associates and to make new friends.
